Model history

Park Lane was developed at a time when American cars were at their peak in terms of chrome and extravagant bodies. Mercury Park Lane Cruiser Hardtop with 2 or 4 doors The Park Lane Hardtop Cruiser had everything you could wish for in this period. The 1958 model had a push button gear selector, which was replaced with a normal steering wheel gear selector from 1959. Both the 1959 model and the 1960 model had a changed front. Cars from 1960 can also be recognized by the fact that they got a new rear with new, rounded, oval slanted rear lights and chrome strips under the doors.
Engines
One engine followed the model through all three years, a 430 cubic inch (7,0 L) V8. It belonged to an engine series that went by the name Mercury-Edsel-Lincoln (MEL). The 430 engine was launched alongside the Mercury Park Lane and Lincoln Continental for the 1958 model year. In this model year, this engine could be tuned up to 400 hp – called Marauder - a designation Mercury adopted several years later.
