How the cars are grouped at Terjes Biler
Volkswagen's Type 1 – Beetle – was made in several versions from the 30s until well into the 70s – and even longer if you include Brazilian production. Here at Terjes Bilers Bilkatalog, the Volkswagen Type 1 is grouped into the following subpages:
- Volkswagen with split rear window until 1953
- Volkswagen with oval rear window fom. 1953 empty. 1957
- Volkswagen with full rear window fom. 1958 empty. 1966
- Volkswagen fom. 1967 empty. 1971
- Volkswagen "S" fom. 1972
Volkswagen fom. 1958 empty. 1966
The Volkswagen Beetle received small upgrades every year – many of them difficult to detect. There is therefore much that distinguishes the models from 1958 to 1967, but what they have in common is a full rear window and headlights with glass that is shaped after the front fenders – i.e. not the more upright headlights that came in the 1967 model year. Other characteristics that distinguish models before and after 1967 are the license plate light cap above the rear engine cover. Cars from the 1965 model year got larger windows all around. Standard for the cars from 1958 to 1967 was Volkswagen's 1200 engine. It produced 30 to 34 HP depending on the model year. From 1966, cars could be ordered with the new 1300 engine with 40 HP.
