Produced for 14 years
C3 inherited chassis and chassis from C2. Same wheelbase, independent suspension and disc brakes on all wheels, - and the body made of fiberglass on a tubular steel frame. Like its predecessors, the design was futuristic. So futuristic, in fact, that it was produced for a full 14 years, from 1968 to 1982, with several cosmetic and technical modifications along the way. One of the most visible exterior changes are hidden bumpers that came in 1973 (front) and 1974 (rear). This was to meet the increasingly strict American "bumper" rules.
Engines
The V8 engines from the previous model were brought over to the C3 and followed GM's engine program. The small-block 327 was replaced by the 350 after about a year, and the big-block 427 was replaced by the 454 from 1970. The 2-speed gearbox was never added to the new C3's options list. The Power-glide was replaced with a 3-speed automatic and later with a 4-speed. The C3 was produced with V8s throughout the oil crisis of the 70s without falling sales figures.

About the pictures
The main picture was taken at an Amcar meet at Tretten in Gudbrandsdalen. It has the new front that came in model year 1973. The gray one is pictured at Nøstetangen in Drammen. It is a late model. The red one is photographed at an Amcar meeting at Ekeberg Camping. The orange one is pictured during a small car meeting in Borggården behind Oslo City Hall. The black one with side pipes, the red one on the beach and the blue one by the stalls were all photographed on the occasion of an event in Argeles-sur-Mer in France. The bronze-colored car was pictured while it was visiting Fornebu 2018. The pictures of the gray pictures - driver's seat and exterior - were taken in connection with a car meeting in Perpignan, France, 2023. The red car in Frognerparken participated in the Independence Day celebration there in 2024. Both the black and the red car are photographed on Oksenøya outside Oslo. The white convertible with the lights up is pictured at Fornebu in 2022.
