The MkVII was the last
Mini MkVII – The final version – is the last classic model with roots in the first Mini from 1959. All Minis are of course classic, but the mk VII is attractive because it is still a relatively new car, produced between 1996 and 2000, – perhaps equipped with modern leather seats and sunroof. The classic Mini looked rather nostalgic in the late 90s, and I think many people acquired one as a collector's car, car number 2 or hobby car. That is why there are several cars today with fairly low mileage.
About the pictures
The blue car in the main picture belongs to the London-based tour and event agency Small Car Big City which offers guided tours in classic Mini. You can drive yourself - with a guide - or in a group, - or use the cars for various events, such as weddings, photo sessions, etc. The picture was taken at the Rosewood Hotel, London, while a guide is preparing the car for the next trip. The BRG green car is photographed outside a car auction company outside Oslo. This car has spent more than two years at Oslo Municipality's towing area. It will now be auctioned off and will probably require some work to get on the road. I still allow myself to be fascinated by how well Mini has held up until the turn of the millennium.
