The Skoda Rapid sits between the Golf/Octavia and the Polo/Fabia. I've seen some in the motoring press call it a Golf competitor, but that's only fitting. Interior space is the car's great strength. It loads like a small station wagon. But - so - even though it shares engines with the Golf, the driving characteristics are not on par with the Golf. I read somewhere that it was screwed together with the front axle from the Fabia and the rear axle from the Roomster. That might sound good. It drives like an overgrown Fabia.
I have driven a lot with the pictured model. It is a base model with a 105 horsepower TDI engine. I used the car to move all the things the movers didn't take with them in the truck. Things like pictures, lamps, clothes, bed linen, kitchen equipment and lots more. There were many trips over several days. When you drive a car a lot because you absolutely have to, you notice if you have a good car. The Skoda did not disappoint there. You can drive all day – several consecutive days after, without getting tired of it.
The pictures were taken in different places, and I apologize that the technical quality is not that good. I hope to return to the Skoda Rapid, perhaps in one with a higher level of equipment and a different drivetrain?
