If you are thinking of getting a vintage car, there are several reasons to bet on the Mustang.

They are produced in large series, and many are still on the road. Access to parts is no problem, as everything can be obtained. A look online shows newly manufactured body and interior parts for sale. If you find a usable frame, it is possible to build yourself a brand new vintage car if you have the time and money.
Another reason to choose the Mustang is that the cars work well in today's traffic. The problem with many other vintage cars is that they are better suited for exhibition than driving.
On Saturday, the members of the Norwegian Mustang Club exhibited their vehicles at Bogstad Gård. One could walk between Mustangs for several generations. Most popular is understandably the first generation from 1964-1973. It was the Mustang that led to the creation of a new car class called "The Pony Car". The Mustang became a template for what a Pony Car should look like: sporty, affordable, based on mass-produced parts, with possibilities for individual styling and a youthful expression.
It is debatable whether all Mustangs have been equally successful? In 1974, when the oil crisis was a fact, and many Americans replaced the full-sizers with Japanese cars, - Ford found that they wanted to make a Mustang that could take on the import cars. The new Mustang was scaled down both externally and engine-wise. Many Mustang fanatics were disappointed that Ford could not offer a V8 this year. In contrast, the Mustang came for the first time with a 2,3 liter four-cylinder Pinto engine. Pain got worse.
Anyway, I think Mustang IIs have always been beautiful cars, - better than the undersized generation 3 that characterized the eighties. I have also read that eighties Mustangs are now popular in the USA, and here at home several of them can be registered as veterans.
At Bogstad Gård I didn't see any Mustang II, but two Mustang generation 3 (Fox body) and one Mustang generation 4. In contrast, there were several fifth generation Mustangs, as well as a generation 6. Should I try to rank the various generations, first generation in first place and fifth generation in number 2. I think the development of the Mustang promises well. The new 2,3 liter turbo engine is no Pinto engine with breathing problems. 300+ HP with a torque of 320 Nm at 3000 rpm. In addition, I can state that it sounds really good.
Never change a winning horse!
