Stern engine and rear wheel drive
The Dauphine was produced from 1956 to 1967. The model came on the market to replace the popular Renault 4cv. Like many other family cars at the time, it had a rear engine and rear-wheel drive.
Aerostable for better damping
In 1960 there was a new and upgraded model that had something new. An auxiliary spring system based on air-filled rubber cushions. In one of the tests done during the introduction, it was said that "the new Dauphine has calm, well-damped movements like a large luxury car without this having detracted from the good driving characteristics the car is known for".
Gordini, 1093 and Ondine
Renault also delivered several fierce models in this series. Gordini and 1093 were both made for racing and took a number of victories. Ondine was a luxury variant where special emphasis was placed on colors and luxury inside the car.
