Electric cars are going to dominate the car market in the same way that color TVs took over our living rooms. But be aware that electric cars are not ideal for everyone. Not yet. The survey below maps your car needs and gives an indication of which energy source is most suitable for you. Financial conditions have not been taken into account.
Hybrid car used as fossil car
As you know, hybrid cars have a significant tax advantage compared to petrol and diesel cars. The survey assesses only appropriateness. Without access to own chargers, the electric car advantage of hybrid cars cannot be fully exploited. We have given the go-ahead for that. If the hybrid car's advantages cannot be exploited – that is, it is used just like a fossil car – the result will go in favor of the fossil car so as not to create the impression that a hybrid car is more appropriate. Then any other reasons must weigh more heavily, such as purchase price or model selection.
Electric car and fossil car on long journeys
Electric cars are OK on long journeys if you have a positive attitude and take advantage of the necessary breaks to charge the batteries. That's something experienced electric car owners know. Although electric cars are suitable for long-distance driving, many will still find that fossil-fuel cars are more appropriate if you have to drive over mountain passes and deserted stretches. We have rewarded the fossil-fuel cars for that. Even if your need is exclusively for long journeys, you can therefore drive an electric car with a long range, but the test results will then favor a fossil car.
Two results
The results consist of two parts – total demand and driving between home and workplace. Trouble-free driving to and from work is an absolute requirement when choosing a car. In that context, it doesn't really matter how many days a week you have to go to work, because the trips are just as necessary regardless of whether you meet one day a week or five.
