Photo Sunday - Car meeting at Nebbenes

Last Sunday, the American Cruisers Club Eidsvoll and Romerike Gammelbilklubb organized a car meeting at the cafe on the north side of Nebbenes. There was a barbecue, music and nice cars, of course.

Nostalgia on E6

I stopped by Nebbenes on my way up the E6 for a necessary errand at the cabin. The cars from the 60s, 70s and 80s brought back memories of the holiday traffic as I remember it in the 70s. No one had air conditioning in the car. Slow-moving caravans could therefore make anyone and everyone see red in the summer heat, because there was a long way between safe overtaking hatches.

Think how much safer today's E6 has become! - the cars too.

As I hurtle away on autopilot at 110 I think about how much more entertaining driving was in the old days.

The good fortune was to know about a small stretch behind the bend, where it was possible to overtake - only if you had made the necessary preparations - set up an extra good distance to the train in front, downshifted and built up overtaking speed. So when the road opened up, you were faced with one of two choices - full braking and go in or "two inners and get rid of me" 😀
