Wartburg is one of several car brands that were produced by the IFA (Industrieverband Fahrzeugbau) in Eisenach in the former East Germany. The name Wartburg derives from a magnificent castle that towers over the town. When the East German regime capitulated in 1990, the market for the cars fell away. Today, the factory in Stellantis is included.

More smell than luxury
