Family friend
Citroen Ami is a model based on the 2CV family. It was made in two series, Ami 6 (1961-67) and Ami 8 (1968-78). The Ami 8 received a reworked front and the sedan version received a more contemporary sloping rear window instead of the inverted rear window also known from the Ford Anglia. The mechanics of the Ami 8 are shared almost 100 percent with Dyane and Mehari, with a 602 cc air-cooled 2-cylinder engine and "umbrella gear". The Ami Super got a larger four-cylinder, air-cooled boxer engine of 1.0 liters - the same engine that was in the Citroen GS. Ami is about the same size as a public transport bubble, i.e. approximately 4 meters long. I'm impressed with how much space there seems to be in the Ami station wagon, thanks to the space-saving torsion suspension. This must have been a fantastic family car!

Ami Convertible

The Citroen Ami was also available in various convertible versions. The car in the pictures above has a – I believe – removable hardtop which could also be replaced by a soft top. Note that the hardtop is shaped with an inward-facing rear window like the first series of Ami had.
About the pictures
Sedan
The blue car in the main picture was photographed while it was parked at a shopping center in Perpignan. The image of the white sedan version with an inward-facing rear window – the Ami 6 – comes from an auction held by the Citroen Museum in Paris. The newer bright Ami 8 is photographed at a car meet in Perpignan. Another blue car parked behind 2CV cars, attended Citronnades-2024 in Sainte-Marie-la-Mer.
Break
The grey-blue estate car was photographed at a car show in Canet-en-Roussillon. It is a pre-1968 facelift. The burgundy-red car is also an early version that was pictured at Citronnades-2024. The light grey station wagon is also an early version – phase 1 – of the Ami Break. The car participated in a car show in Perpignan 2024, and we also got a picture of the same car on the way to the show. We can see the same car on the right in a picture below together with the rear of an Ami 6 Break. The multi-coloured blue/red Ami 8 was photographed in Céret and is in daily use. The brown Ami 8 was photographed in the centre of Perpignan and has been observed on the road and at car shows.
Convertible
The photos of the blue convertible version (with hardtop) were taken at a car show in Perpignan, 2025.
