Simca 9 Aronde was the first model with the Aronde designation. It was produced in two series between 1951 and 1958.
Simca as an independent brand
Simca 9 Aronde became an independent model. Previously, Simca produced Fiat cars under license. Although, if you follow the Aronde model in the seams, there are still traces of Fiat. Firstly, it bears some similarities to the Fiat 1400 – a family car from the same era. The truth is that the Fiat 1400 and Simca 9 Aronde were designed in the same studio, but as different models. Another "leftover" from Fiat was the engine - a Fiat 1221 ccm. But Aronde appeared as a modern car with a self-supporting body and reasonable prices. They were considered affordable cars. In 1956, the Simca Aronde was the best-selling car in France.
Model follow-up
The Simca 9 Aronde was made in two series. The first from 1951 to 1955, the second from 1956 to 1958. On the outside, you can spot the differences in the grill and that the Series 2 cars got smaller wheels – 14 inches instead of 15 inches. This gave the model a lower and more modern appearance. The biggest change was under the hood in the form of a new engine. Simca's “Flash” engine had a displacement of 1300 ccm and 47 HP.

Simca Intendante
The pickup variant Intendant was produced between 1958 to 1963, and followed the Simca Aronde P60 model. The model depicted is a P60 but has the front of the outgoing model - and is therefore shown together with the passenger cars with the same front. Intendante eventually got the Aronde P60's new front.
About the pictures
The gray car with black plates in the main picture was photographed on the occasion of the Fête d'auto 2024 in Palau del Vidre, Roussillon. The same car is also pictured at a car meet in Perpignan. It is a Series 2 edition of the model. The two-coloured car – white over gray – is pictured on Hobby Vehicle Day, Hof in Vestfold. It is a Series 1 car. According to the vehicle register, first registered in 1953. The French-registered cars are all series 2 cars. They are photographed at a car meet organized by RVA66 (Rassemblement Véhicules Anciens) in Perpignan. These cars were best sellers in their time, but difficult to acquire today - even in France.
