A Gentleman's Car
Alvis TD21 Drophead Coupé. Large British car with a 3 liter straight six. These are cars that can safely be characterized as a gentleman's car and are mentioned in the same breath as Jaguar and Bentley. The cars were hand-built by Alvis as a drivable car on a frame. The body was then assembled by the coachbuilder Mulliner Park Ward, while some were mounted by Graber i Sveits. Man kunne få biler enten som Fixed Head Coupé eller Drophead Coupé.
Two series
The Alvis TD21 was built in two series. The first from 1958 to 1961, the second from 1962 to 1963. Technically, the new series got disc brakes on all four wheels. A visible change was that the fog lights were recessed into the bodywork, more specifically in new round air vents on each side of the main grille.

About the pictures
The dark blue car in the main image was photographed while parked along the street at Skillebekk in Oslo and when it participated with the top down at the Norwegian Sports Car Club's spring mustering at Øvrevoll racecourse in 2025. The light blue car was photographed in London, 2012 (Photo: dutourdumonde). The green Series I car participated in a vehicle exhibition in Gunnarsbøparken, Tønsberg in 2025.
