Both Swiss and British
Alvis TE21 Drophead Coupé. Successor to the TD21 . This is a large British car with a 3-liter inline-six, 130 HP, which gave a top speed of 172 km/h. The body was designed by the coachbuilder Graber in Switzerland, but the production was carried out by the well-known coachbuilder Mulliner Park Ward in England, known for, among other things, special bodies for Rolls-Royce and Bentley.
Expensive and rare
The cars are hand-built in relatively small series. The vast majority of the cars were built at Mulliner Park Ward, while a few were made by Graber in Switzerland. They had the drawings. The cars from Graber had a different front than the MPW cars. A total of 352 Alvis TE21s were built by MPW, while Graber himself built 12. Of these, only 3 were built as convertibles – and all still exist. An auction house claimed that it was extremely rare for Alvis cars to be sold. Not only were they rare, but also loved by their owners. According to the vehicle register, there are 2 Alvis TE21s in Norway, but no Grabers. None of the cars were bought new in Norway.
About the pictures
The car in the main image was photographed at the London Concours 2019. The car in the image is a convertible (Drop Head Coupé) – not built by Mulliner Park Ward , but by Graber in Switzerland.
