Alvis was a former English car brand. The Alvis Car and Engineering Company was founded in 1919 by Thomas George John with the production of, among other things, petrol engines. Eventually, there was car production in relatively small series. Alvis built the cars on frames and sent them off to independent coachbuilders for completion. The concept continued after the war. In 1965, the company was placed under Rover. Car production disappeared when Rover entered British Leyland a couple of years later.
