The James Bond car

In the movie Goldfinger From 1964 the whole world got to know a DB5 full of various "gadgets". Since then, the car model has been linked to Agent 007 James Bond. The films created a great demand for the DB5. Today, the cars are significantly more expensive than their predecessor, the DB4. The DB5 was actually developed as an upgrade of the DB4, but it was decided that it should be a new model.

The DB5 had its body designed by Superleggera. In standard form it is a 2+2 seater – more of a Gran Turismo than a real 4-seater. A convertible version and a station wagon (shooting brake) were also made. The engine is a 4.0 liter straight six with 282 hp. It gives the car a top speed of over 150 mph (240 km/h). The standard gear solution was a 5-speed manual gearbox from ZF, but you could also choose a 3-speed automatic from Borg-Warner.

About the pictures

The indoor exhibition photos were taken at the London Classic Car Show 2020. The car on the grass was displayed during the London Concours 2026 by the Aston Martin dealer Nicholas Mee & Co. The first owner had the car until 1986. Since then it has undergone a complete renovation from bare chassis and upgraded with a 4.7 liter engine with Vantage specs. The car is painted in a beautiful Silver Birch color – the same color as James Bond's car. It is for sale at Nicholas Mee & Co, Hertfordshire, England for £725.000.
