2017 Facelift

New grill, new headlights, new taillights, virtual cockpit, new assistant systems and more.
The facelift in 2017 meant that the A3 e-tron got a new grill, new headlights, new LED running lights, new rear lights, new diffuser, virtual cockpit with digital instruments, new assistant systems such as warning and emergency braking in case of obstacles within city speeds in addition to the previous model's adaptive cruise control and lane assist. Lane assist controls the car automatically at speeds above 60 km/h, but requires you to keep at least one hand on the steering wheel. With a SIM card, you can also connect the car to the internet and, among other things, get maps and traffic information from Google.
The drive is the same as before, a 54 HP electric motor that works together with a 1,4 liter TFSI engine of 150 HP. Together, you get 204 HP, with spontaneous effect.

Practical range
If you charge the car for 4 hours on a regular 16A socket before setting off, you can in theory drive around 40-45 km on pure electric power, enough for most people to get back and forth from work. On long journeys, regenerative braking functions ensure that the batteries are recharged. Just to brag a bit - I've become an "expert" at draining as many kilometers as possible out of the electric car batteries to see if it is possible in practice to achieve the manufacturer's stated ranges. It surprises me that this often happens if you drive ultra-economically. But when it comes to the Audi e-tron's range, I can conclude that it is boasted. In practice, expect 30 – 35 kilometers of rain under favorable conditions.
Test drive
Threats to close Oslo's access roads to diesel cars made my wife want to replace her diesel Q3 with an A3 e-tron. The trip went to her workplace, Rikstoto in Bjerke. There we changed drivers. I took some photos at the beautiful entrance there. My wife thought the A3 e-tron was easy to drive, but missed being able to sit up high, as well as having the same sense of security she had in the Q3 with 4-wheel drive. In terms of performance, the A3 e-tron felt stronger than the 177 HP she had in the Q3, but perhaps that is not so decisive for female drivers?
About the pictures
The pictured 2017 model is in Cosmos Blue, a completely new color for the facelift models. The pictures were taken on several trips, including along Gamle Mossevei, and in Gudbrandsdalen. The silver-grey car is a 2016 model from MøllerBil at Lilleaker in Oslo. The pictures with Google Maps the integration is taken in the 2017 model.
