In 1932, four companies were merged to form Auto Union. The four were Horsch, Audi, Wanderer and DKW, and these brand names were still used. After the war, Auto Union was re-established and resumed production of DKW. Volkswagen bought into the company - and eventually took over NSU as well. Audi NSU became a brand under Volkswagen and from 1985 changed to Audi AG.
