Cadillac is a symbol of ostentatious luxury and prosperity. Eldorado's 9th generation was the biggest and best looking.
The last full-size Cadillac
In these times where cars and engines are downsized, it is wonderful to be able to study the Cadillac Eldorado when a full-sizer really was a full-size. The pictured 1975 Eldorado Coupé is 5,69 meters long and 2,03 meters wide in its original condition. In addition, it is designed to fill out its dimensions - all four corners. Eldorado certainly does not hide in the crowd.
The 9th generation of the Cadillac Eldorado underwent several changes during its lifetime. It is considered the last great Cadillac. Subsequent models were significantly smaller. The very best Eldorado is the cabriolet, which was discontinued after the 1976 model. Today typical collector cars.
No Tesla…
Equipped with the 500 cubic inch V8 (8,2 liters) it is a gas guzzler, given today's consumption. On the country road, you'll probably get well under 2 liters per mile, provided you cruise calmly. In the city, however, it can be difficult to stay below 3 liters per mile. The 3-stage Turbo Hydramatic cash register is devoid of computerized economy programs. At full throttle, the V8 can pull the 2,4-tonne car from 0-100 in around 13 seconds. Today it would be "parked" by any Tesla. But Cadillac is neither about driving particularly fast nor economically. It's about the feeling of being able to move in comfort, luxury and abundance.

About the pictures
The car in the hover image is a 1975 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible. The brown car is also a 1975 model with a period vinyl roof shaped like a "landau top". Probably a rolling restoration project. The red Convertible in Borggården Oslo participated in a car show there. It is a 1973 model. The car parked sideways on a slope is an original 1974 model Convertible parked on Snarøya outside Oslo.
