Terje's cars often visit car meets in Norway, France and England. Pictures and car experiences from the meetings are communicated to the best of our ability.
Every 2nd Sunday of the month, car enthusiasts gather in the centre of the small village in Hertfordshire.
The gatherings began in the summer of 2021. When the owner of a local pizza restaurant could no longer take his car out on the road, local car enthusiasts brought their cars to his restaurant as an encouragement. After this first meeting, the car owners have continued to come by with their cars every 2nd Sunday of the month between 8:30 and 12:00. Today, there are probably too many cars to park on the picturesque main street. Instead, 2 of the nearby parking lots are used.
At events like this, people take their fancy cars out on the road. It could be anything from a fancy MG, McLaren or Aston Martin – or the car you drive every day.
This beautiful MGB GT V8 was parked on the main street.

Andresen Bil på Ski celebrated the reopening of its premises after renovation. On Saturday, it was a vintage car day with cars older than 30 years.
Andresen Bil is a family-run group that sells Mercedes-Benz, Peugeot, Citroen and Opel. Its roots go back to 1952 when Bjorn Andresen established a workshop in his parents' house. Eventually it became cars and Follo car & bodywork eventually became dealers for Mercedes-Benz and Peugeot. Today they also sell Citroen and Opel, although the company's history with these brands is more recent.
Mercedes-Benz
1968 Mercedes-Benz 220.
For those of us who are a little older, it brings back fond memories to be greeted by a “new” 1968 Mercedes-Benz “Strich-Acht” in the showroom. This was not a car that just anyone could take home. The “Strich-Acht” arrived in the showrooms in 1968, and the car in the pictures was the first W115 to be sold in Ski. It went to a truck owner Johannes Enersen, Askim, who only used it for holidays and stately occasions. After Enersen's death, it was taken over by a family friend who repaired some rust damage, before it was bought back by Andresen. A car with less than 40.000 km on the odometer! This is not just any vintage car, but a car with local history. Worth taking care of!

In the Peugeot, Citroen and Opel department is this white Peugeot 504 from 1969. It was the first model year, and this particular car was the first Peugeot 504 sold by Follo Bil & Karosseri. It was delivered to a dentist Olav Day Viken from Ski. He was a well-known personality in Ski. In addition to being a dentist, he was a local politician for the Liberal Party, a visual artist, active in the art community and, among other things, designed Ski's municipal coat of arms. He kept the Peugeot for the rest of his life. After his death in 1980, it was stored and bought back to Andresen Bil in 2015 to be completely restored.

The Peugeot 504 was replaced by the 505 in 1979, but production of the pickup version continued until 1983. Many of the cars are still in use in France. In Norway, pickups have never been a common sight – at least not today. The pickup in the picture was first registered in Norway.

Opel
1969 Opel Olympia.
The Opel Olympia between 1967 and 1970 was an attempt to fill the gap between the Kadett and the Rekord. It is clear that the model is based on the Kadett B, but it stood out by offering a 4-door fastback. Although the cars had a coupé shape, they were not made with a rear door (hatchback) – only with a hatch to a closed trunk.

The centerpiece of the car meeting was probably this beautiful ambulance based on the Mercedes-Benz 180 (W120). It is not known where the car was rebuilt. The car in the picture has served in Gjøvik, but is now owned by Oslo University Hospital HF. There is said to have been one similar car in Oslo.

An elderly couple passed this car as I was taking a picture. They were surprised to see the square transformed into Italian Car Day. Both admired the red Ferrari. «Mustangs», the old man declared. "Those were nice cars!" Hm ... "Ferrari California T", I thought to myself. But we were both wrong. This is a Ferrari Portofino – the successor to the California T. The engine is in the front anyway, and is a mid-mounted 3.9 twin turbo V8.

Lancia
Lancia has made several models that have done very well in rally and track racing. In retrospect, it may seem as if they gave the engineers free rein to create innovative and creative solutions, while no one cared about the economy. In 1970, Fiat took over Lancia and ensured further progress – and new models – even though many believed that Fiat put a damper on creativity. The slogan “Lancia – The Most Italian car” is true, and the brand is well respected here at home through Norwegian Lancia Club.

Fiat 128 3P – which probably stands for 3 doors – were popular cars around 1980. I remember them as simple, beautiful and easy to drive. The impression is probably true today too. Great pleasure to see a car like that again. A great representative at Italian Car Day.
It looks like the car meets at Øvrevoll Racecourse are starting to get back on track after Covid. The racecourse is a beautiful place for beautiful cars. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

Ford did not officially make any Capri variants with V8, but there are several Capri and Cortina that have been subsequently rebuilt with Rover's 3500 V8 engine. This engine was well suited because of its low weight. I do not know what kind of engine is in the car pictured.
Last Saturday, Gunnarsbøparken in Tønsberg was bustling with activity. We were greeted by cars and two-wheelers in various designs and the sounds of the Opus One Big Band.
It was the local car clubs Tønsberg Automobile Club, Re Motor Club og Stokke Veteran Carriage Club who was in charge of the event. We were in Tønsberg on another errand, but of course we took a quick trip to Gunnarsbøparken. While we were there, new cars kept coming in, while others left. Thus, the cars were gradually replaced to the delight of those who spent time in the nice weather in the park.
Norwegian cars
Several cars in the exhibition originate from Vestfold and neighboring counties. It is about completely ordinary and unsnobbish cars that were on the roads several decades ago. Local historical connections may not mean much in terms of money, but they still add value. We can call it nostalgia.

Alvis is a car brand that you don't see very often, either in Norway or England. They built the cars semi-finished on frames and had the bodies fitted by external coachbuilders. When local English car clubs are invited to meetups, English models that are no longer around today but were common in the 1960s and 1970s appear. We're talking about Austin, Morris, Vauxhall – and fun variations like Wolseley, Riley og Vanden Plas.
Made in England
Last weekend a big event took place in Enfield Town – a few miles north of London. Enfield Pageant of Motoring. It was The Whitewebbs Museum of Transport who invited local car clubs to meet. In addition, the museum displayed its own cars, including old commercial vehicles such as Commer, Austin og Bedford. Bedfords were popular distribution trucks until well into the 1980s also in Norway. The event is held annually to raise money for the small motor museum run by volunteers, the majority of whom claim to be in their 70s and 80s.

Autovia invited owners of Italian cars to a spring parade at their premises in the car city of Rud outside Oslo. They claim to be the dealer that has been dealing with Alfa Romeo the longest, and it was therefore not unexpected that this particular car brand was in the majority in the parking lot outside.
Many people say that Alfa Romeo is a car brand of choice. the heartWe have previously driven Alfa Romeo Stelvio. It is a car that can also be chosen with your head – as a sensible premium car. The same applies to the new Giulia. Some older models can probably demand a lot from their owners in terms of patience, money and passion. But all the cars from Alfa Romeo are finally becoming classics, and it was good to see that several young vintage cars had found their way to Autovia – not only GTV og Spider, but also models such as Alfa 155 og 156.
Alfa Romeo Brera shares chassis, engines and front end with Alfa Romeo 159The model was launched in 2005. Three years earlier, Brera presented as a concept car at the Geneva Motor Show. Italdesign Giugiaro had then built a tough coupé with a V8 engine from Maserati. None of this was transferred to the production model, but the Brera is still a great coupé with family ties to both Alfa 159 og Spider.

Many car models were prone to rust in the 1970s. Classic models such as alfasud, Alfetta og GTV, are almost impossible to find either in Norway or anywhere else due to rust problems. New Fiat Topolino (can be seen behind the Fiat 500) is a new moped with a top speed of 45 km/h. Too bad Stellantis did not classify the car as L7e. Then it could have followed the normal traffic flow. Unfortunately, the road network in Norway is not designed for mopeds.
