Between Ferrari 348 and 208
In terms of design, the Ferrari 355 has more similarities with its classic 8-cylinder predecessors – the Ferrari 308, 328 and 348 – than its successor the 360. Like its predecessor, the Ferrari 355 has hidden headlights, a covered engine cover and a small "duck tail" at the rear to provide extra ground pressure at high speed. All Ferrari 355s can be taken in as vintage cars under the new 20-year rule. The 355 is not only a vintage car, but also the latest model with the same lines as the Ferrai 308 – both designed by Pininfarina.
Model history
The Ferrari 355 was produced from 1994 to 1999 and has a 3,5 V8 of 381 HP with a 6-speed manual gearbox, or an F1-type sequential automatic gearbox that can do 0-100 in 4,5 seconds. The engine had 5 valves per cylinder, which may be the reason for the name 355, - 3,5 liter engine and 5 valves. The predecessor, the Ferrari 348, got its name from the 3,4 liter engine and 8 cylinders. The model was made in three variants, Berlinetta – original variant, Spider – from 1995 and Targa – from 1997.
