Variants

The Ford Granada was one of the toughest you could own in the large car class in the 70s and 80s - a real boss's car. You could get it as a 2- and 4-door sedan and a 5-door station wagon. No coupé variants were made. The most common engine was the 2-litre with 101 horses. A few cars had the distinctive sound of the V4 (1,7 liters). The most powerful engines were the 2,3 and 2,8 V6. These were perfect Granada engines.

Facelift

The 1982 model received a facelift with, among other things, a new grill painted in the car's colour, new bumpers and rear lights. The 2-door variant was taken out of the model range. Likewise the V4 engine which was replaced with the 1,6 liter engine from the Taunus series. With the introduction of the mk2 Granada, production ceased at Dagenham in England. All Granadas were now produced in Cologne.

High nostalgia value

The tough character has followed the model throughout its life. Unfortunately, there are starting to be few usable cars left. These were typically utility vehicles used as company cars and family cars with high mileage. In retrospect, they have become popular as youth cars and robber cars - along the lines of the Volvo 240. Even today, a polished Granada arouses admiring glances, at least from those who experienced these cars when they were common on the road.

About the pictures
