Model history
The Ford P6 succeeded the P4 (12M) with two models – the 12M and 15M. There was not much that separated the two models, but with the 15M Ford was able to create a link between the 12M and 17M. You could probably say that the 15M was a slightly nicer version of the 12M, with a different front and rear, and nicer decor and equipment. The engines were still V4 in two variants, a 1300 with 50 hp and a 1500 with 65 hp - still with steering gear and front wheel drive like its predecessor. The front suspension was new – of the McPherson type, while there was a rigid rear axle and leaf springs at the rear. The models could be delivered as 2- and 4-door sedans, 3-door station wagons and vans, as well as coupés. The new models appeared in autumn 1966 as 1967 models. They received a slight change from 1968 with a matte black dashboard and padded steering wheel. The TS model could now be delivered with a 1700 V4 engine. From 1969, they got a completely new dashboard where the horizontal speedometer was replaced with round clocks. The cars also got a 3-spoke steering wheel - the same as all European Fords got. You could also order cars with a vinyl roof.
Ford 15M RS
The best variant was undoubtedly the RS with the 1700 engine of 70 hp. From 1969, you got cars with a matt black interior with imitation wood and Recaro seats, black headliner, center console with 4 sports clocks, floor gear and sports rims. The car in the main picture is a 15M RS in silver metallic. You could also get the RS with red paint. Both colors went well with the matte black grill and stripes.

About the pictures
The silver-grey car in the main picture was photographed on the occasion of a Ford Taunus (TC) meeting at the Vehicle History Museum at Hunderfossen. It is a 15 M RS. The picture of the white 15 M was taken in connection with a car meeting in Gunnarsbøparken in Tønsberg 2024. It is a 1968 model 15 M TS Coupé.
