Youthful touch
If you like the classic Honda Civic, you'll like the CRX. The CRX is based on the Civic, but is a notch more fun. It looks like it was made for an American audience. An audience that doesn't need to carry children, work in a suit or be serious. Just drive around and enjoy yourself.
Based on the Civic
The Hondas in the pictures are the CRX 3rd version - the only one that also uses the model name "Del Sol". It shares a platform and technology with similar Honda Civic models. Del Sol was produced between 1992-97. In the beginning, it shared technology with the Civic 5 with the 1,5 and 1,5 VTEC engines. When the Civic 6 came in 1996, the 1,5-liter engines were replaced with 1,6 engines from the Civic 6. There was a 1,6 ESi with 125 HP and a 1,6 VTEC with 160 HP. The model then also got the ODB-II day nose tool - the same as the Civic 6.
Ideal for car hobbyists
As the CRX is based on one of the world's most popular cars, it's easy to get parts - even if the cars are over 20 years old. All work is well documented - not least workshop manuals and guides are available online. The CRX is made in Japan. They rust as much as the Civic. The Honda engines are durable and can withstand high mileage. There are currently none for sale on Finn.no, but you can find them in Europe at prices around NOK 50 for decent copies that you can drive home in. Remember that you no longer need to pay a one-off tax - only VAT on the purchase price + any. freight. It is easy to find cars with relatively low mileage that have been well looked after. Since the CRX (like the Civic) is easy to beat, there are enough cars that are "screwed to death" and perhaps with illegal modifications. An open CRX Del Sol gives a sports car feeling and does well at car meets around summer Norway.
About the pictures
I fell for the silver gray CRX (main photo) in Saint-Cyprien at a hotel car park in the South of France. The red leather interior is lovely. I'm sure this car has had a total makeover. And you can do that with a CRX, and have a fun car for many years. The Civic 5 and 6 are grateful objects to turn on - and since it was one of the US's best-selling cars, there is a lot of literature and support on the Internet.
Another silver-grey car (from 1996 or newer) and an orange car with a black hood are photographed at a car meet outside Perpignan. The green one is pictured at a Cars & Coffee meeting at Øvrevoll gallop outside Oslo. A silver gray car (last photo) is pictured in a car park in Céret, France.
