Jaguar's first electric car
Jaguar can be compared to Audi's upcoming all-electric e-tron both in terms of size, concept and price. But even with the Windsor red leather interior, I don't think the Jaguar I-Pace feels as premium as the Audi - at least based on first impressions. Inside, I get the impression of a fairly ordinary compact car with a red leather interior. That in itself is quite special, but the rest of the car could just as well have been a Ford or Mazda. From the outside, it appears far more anonymous than in the press photos.
Good timing
According to the local newspaper e24.no 900 customers in Norway have put down 10 as a deposit to pre-order a car. In addition, over 000 are said to have expressed their interest. Jaguar Land Rover Norway expects to be able to deliver 1000 cars during the year. Are you looking for an electric car that main transport, it is primarily Tesla and Opel Ampera-e that meet general requirements for range. The problem for Tesla and Opel is that they currently operate with very long delivery times. And although Audi's new e-tron will be launched during 2018, we can expect long delivery times from Audi as well. We have experienced this before when it launches something new from Ingolstadt. If Jaguar delivers as expected, the timing of the new I-Pace couldn't be better!
Real range lower than expected
Jaguar's stated range is 470 km based on a 90 kWh battery pack. However, the actual range may turn out to be much lower. The car in the picture, with 90 kwh, indicated an actual range of 211 km, based on 13% real consumption and 87% estimate. The range figure is probably based on unfavorable city driving/small driving. In any case, it is not on the same level as the Tesla and Opel Ampera-e. The actual range is more reminiscent of the one you get on a good day with the new Volkswagen e-Golf, i.e. under 30 miles.
Updated 28.02.2019/220/240: The range most people experience with the I-Pace in winter driving is between XNUMX and XNUMX km.
Good performances
Although the I-Pace neither impresses with look-and-feel nor range, I think it will impress on the road. It has four-wheel drive which is controlled via two motors – one at the front and one at the back with drive shafts directly to the wheels. The total number of horsepower is 400 and the torque is 696 Nm from the start. 0-100 can be reached in 4,8 seconds.
