From the classic years
Lamborghini, as a brand, has lived through several eras, and one can of course debate which one is the best. If I were to choose the most beautiful, I think it would have to be the Miura and then the Espada, - both from the first years of the car brand's history. The first time I got to study an Espada up close was at the Classic Car Show 2017 at Exporama. In the seventies, cars such as the Espada 400 GT adorned posters in the boys' room. You could read about them in the car magazines. But ordinary people never got to see them the reality.
Was built in 3 series
A low center line and large glass surfaces were typical of the time. With a front-mounted engine and 4 seats, the Espada was not the toughest car in its class. It could still kick off with a 3,9 V12 and 350 horses. The Espada was made in 3 series from 1968 until the company's bankruptcy in 1978. Series 2 was launched in 1970. The most visible changes are the upgrade of the dashboard. In our photo gallery, we can see the differences clearly in the pictures. Series 3 arrived in 1972. Here, too, the dashboard received an update - more aluminum - and the radio was moved from the passenger side towards the driver. The taillights were changed – rectangular – not pentagonal.
About the pictures
The orange model is probably a Series II car. You can see it in the design of the dashboard. Later, the radio was moved closer to the driver. I allow myself to be fascinated by the beautiful interior, which - after all these years - can surely be re-stitched. The yellow car is pictured on the occasion of a car meet in Perpignan, France. It is a Series 3 car with more driver-centric instruments. Choice of rims and styling can be discussed. The car was at least a rallying point for the public at this meeting. The white car is also a Series 3 car with the big bumpers that came from 1975 feet to meet American requirements. This car previously belonged to the royal family in Kuwait and then stood in a museum for 21 years.
