Lotus evokes positive associations in all car environments. Not only have they built great sports cars, they have also helped other car manufacturers with their special expertise. The company was founded in 1952 by Colin Chapman. After his death, the company ended up in financial instability, and has had several owners, including GM. Today, Chinese Geely has a majority ownership.
