Got help from Ferrari
The Maserati 3200 GT represented a new course for Maserati. The 2+2 Gran Turismo was produced between 1998-2002. It is equipped with a 3,2-liter twin turbo V8. Standard 370 HP. Compared to previous Maseratis, the quality is considered satisfactory. The factory had received professional help from Ferrari to build up the production line.
No one-off fee
Cars older than 20 years can now be imported without a one-off tax. You must pay VAT on the car + shipping and scrap deposit. It could be an alternative to, for example, the Porsche 911 Carrera (996) from the same time. Early Maseratis have a deservedly bad reputation for unreliability – especially cars from the 80s. But the 3200 GT is "cleared" of the sins of early times. There is a wonderful episode of this model in the British program series "Wheelers Dealers" where they buy the cheapest one they can find. Only minor errors that Edd China fixes. There is no doubt that a 20-year-old Maserati is not the safest purchase you can make. Many of the faults are of course due to the fact that these are cars that may have been driven hard and received careless treatment.
Rising prices
Is the Maserati 3200 GT still a cool sports car? - Or just cool like an Italian retro object? I believe the latter. That means prices are likely to rise – not fall. I think the first modern Maserati is a thought underrated.
About the pictures
The photo of the silver gray car was taken at the market in Portobello Road, Notting Hill, London. The blue car in the first picture (in profile) at CC-Vest outside Oslo, then at Sjøflyhavna in connection with an outdoor meeting for the Norwegian Sports Car Club. The last two photos were taken elsewhere at Fornebu.
