The Mercedes-Benz W100 was produced between 1963-81 and sold as the Mercedes-Benz 600. The model is designed for the world's richest, such as kings, sheikhs and princes. This is not a car for ordinary people. The W100 never had a successor. Many claim that Maybach took up the legacy several years later. I disagree with that. The W100 is a unique chapter in car history. You can see a Maybach 57 in some of the pictures. Maybach was a good attempt that never succeeded, and did not reach among the world's richest. The Mercedes-Benz 600, on the other hand, did well in its segment. Not only did it have style and class, - it had a distinctive character, something the Maybach lacks. Should you get your hands on a W100, you have the potential for a long career in wedding driving.
Big and powerful
The W100 is equipped with hydraulic suspension and Mercedes-Benz's well-known 6,3 liter V8 engine which produces a respectable 250 HP. That's enough to drag the car from 0 to 100 in 9,7 seconds, and achieve a top speed of around 200 km/h. The model was made in a long and short version. In the long version, the length is 6,24 cm, - in the short version 5,54 cm. The width is a full 1,95 cm.

About the pictures
The white Pullman was photographed on the occasion of Cars and coffee at Skui Gård outside Oslo. The gold-coloured car is former circus director Arnardo's car - the only W100 with Norwegian roots. The pictures of the dark green car with Norwegian plates (!) were taken at Brooklands, Weybridge in Surrey, UK. The photo of the rear of the A-registered car was taken at the Hoftreffet, 2023. The light blue car with French plates "1972 ..." was photographed at a car meet in Perpignan 2024.
