Model history
W114 and W115 are visually similar cars. They were also referred to as /8 (Strich-Acht). The difference between the W114 and W115 is under the hood. The W114 is equipped with a 6-cylinder engine, while the W115 has 4-cylinder engines. The models arrived in 1968 and were replaced by the W123 for the 1977 model year. The W114/W115 received a facelift for the 1974 model year. The most visible changes are a wider grill and "ribs" on the rear lights to make them shine more efficiently. From the side, you can notice that the triangular window in the front side windows has been removed. The steering wheel was also changed to a 70s-style plastic one.
Variants
The W114 was offered with the 230.6 (6-cylinder), 250 and 280. It could also be delivered as a 2-door coupé with a C after the engine designation, for example 250 C. After the facelift in 1974, the coupé models with the 250 and 280 could be delivered with electronic injection from Bosch. These models were then designated 250 CE and 280 CE. The W115 was offered as 200, 220 and 230.4 (petrol) and with diesel 200D, 220D, 240D and 240D 3,0 (actually a 300D).
About the pictures
The white cars are pre-facelift. The pictures at the top are of a Mercedes-Benz 200 photographed at the Øvrevoll gallop in connection with a Cars & Coffee car meeting. The white car below is a Mercedes-Benz 230 photographed at Fornebu Kultursenter in connection with the Stjerneløpet 2018. The beige car is also photographed there - it also participated in the Stjerneløpet 2018. It is a 240D 3.0 with a 5-cylinder naturally aspirated diesel of 80 HP and specified acceleration from 0-100 in 19,9 seconds. The English-red car is photographed in Kensington, London, where it has been for several years. The beige car with extra lights was photographed at Sætre in Asker, 2024. The green car was photographed in Knightsbridge. London. It has been owned by the same family since 1982 and dry stored for 17 years, but now has a new owner. The paint is original in colour Silver Thistle Metallic. The black car is pictured in the parking lot at one of the Bendix meets at Lunner, 2018. It's a 240D 3.0.
