Cost as much as a Cadillac
In the 50s, the 220 S was priced like a Cadillac. The simple pontoon body doesn't look as flashy as a Cadillac, but is very stylish. The interior with lots of wood gives an impression of class. Many of these cars are still on the road, and if you search online, there seems to be a good supply of parts. I have never driven a W180 myself, but was a passenger in a Ponton 220S as a boy. Here, one noticed surprisingly little of the speed compared to more modern cars. Already in the 50s, it must have been a great means of transportation and a mile-eater on the German Autobahn.
Engine and performance
According to the local newspaper automobile-catalog.com The 220 S has a straight six of 2,2 liters which produces 114 HP. It can reach a top speed of 160 km/h and go from 0-100 in 14,2 seconds.

About the pictures of the W180
Here almost everyone is taken at Øvrevoll gallop in connection with Cars and coffee. The picture of the 17th of May decorated car was taken in 2021 at Revetal. The blue car with D-plates was photographed outside the Cadillac Diner at Tretten on a nice autumn day in 2021. The last car was photographed when it stopped by Classic Weekend at Bertel O. Steen in Lørenskog in 2025.
