The car brand Mitsubishi first appeared in 1917 with production on a very small scale. In the first 5 years, only 22 cars were produced. It was only after the war that production picked up with popular models such as the Kei-car model Minica, the prestige car Debonair and the best sellers Colt and Galant. From 1970, Mitsubishi entered into a partnership with Chrysler and sold Japanese models in the USA under Chrysler - so-called "badge engineering". From 2016, Mitsubishi entered into an alliance together with Renault and Nissan. In this alliance, it has been decided that Mitsubishi's Japanese car production from 2026 will be based on platforms from Nissan.
