Opel is one of the world's oldest car manufacturers with a history dating back to 1869 with the production of sewing machines, bicycles and cars. In 1929, Opel was acquired by GM, which utilized the best of the American and European car industry in technology and design. In 2017, GM pulled out of Opel, and the company was later acquired by French PSA and from 2021 incorporated into the Stellantis group. Today's Opel models share all technology with the PSA group's model range.
