Produced for less than a year
It looks like a facelifted version of its predecessor Rekord A. New front, new rear, completely new engines and new interior, - while vital dimensions and side profiles were the same. Rekord B was in production for just under a year. There was no drama in a quick replacement. The Rekord C was long planned, but Opel needed an upgraded model for the new engine range. - And Rekord B wasn't a new car from the ground up after all. Just a facelift.
Many versions – also van
Rekord B was available as a 2- and 4-door sedan, 3-door Caravan and coupé. I remember well the Caravan with its raised roof in the "cargo". One of the parents in my childhood neighborhood had a Caravan van with no side windows. I don't know what engine it had, but I'm guessing 1500 or 1700 with steering gear. There was also a 1900 S.
Rare
The short production time makes the model quite rare. The fact that there were quite a few model variants also contributes to making each car almost unique. There are supposed to be 61 Opel Rekords of the year 1966. I can't imagine that there are very many Rekord B Coupés on Norwegian license plates.
