New concepts
Polestar is the Volvo group's new car concept. New technology, new car models and a new sales model based on online ordering. It is obvious to compare with Tesla. So far, two models have been launched, the Polestar 1 (hybrid) and the smaller 4-door all-electric model Polestar 2. The latter has prices and performance on a par with the Tesla Model 3 and could become a big seller in this country. The Polestar 1 will hardly become a big seller, but will be a competitor to sporty hybrid cars such as the Lexus LC500 and Porsche Panamera 4 e-hybrid. The most beautiful of the three is undoubtedly the Polestar. It carries the same beautiful lines as the classic P1800.
Capacity and performances
The Polestar 1 has the following 4 (!) engines: A 2-litre front-mounted petrol engine with both supercharger and turbo, an electric motor housed in the "kardang" tunnel and two rear-mounted engines that drive the rear wheels. The car naturally has electronically controlled 4-wheel drive. The only gearbox offered is an 8-speed automatic. The total battery capacity is 34 kWh. Electric range is estimated at 124 km. Together, you can extract 609 HP and a torque of 1000 Nm. It should provide a 0-100 acceleration in 4,2 seconds. Fuel consumption mixed driving is approx. 0,6 liters per mile. On the minus side - if you can put it that way - is that there are only 4 seats and the luggage compartment only holds 122 liters - and that you don't get it with a trailer hitch.
Easy and configurable
You can order your Polestar online. The configuration is quite simple. Most things are actually included. Under "extra equipment" you can only order winter tires and a service agreement. The configuration is about cosmetics – colours, material selection and exterior and interior finishes. The cars can be "experienced" in their own salesperson-free premises - so-called "Spaces". The first in this country, located at Øvre Slottsgate 7 in Oslo. Prices for the Polestar 1 start at NOK 1.
