Carrera GT

A racing car in Porsche Carrera guise. The mid-mounted V10 engine is the same one Porsche developed for the 24 Le Mans 2000 Hours race.
A real supercar
The term is used for the most extravagant sports cars in the world, such as Ferrari and Lamborghini. The Porsche 911 with rear engines certainly also falls under the term "supercar" - but perhaps appeals more to those who like Audi and BMW. The Carrera GT – model 980 – must have been a project to strengthen Porsche's position within the same segment as Ferrari and Lamborghini. The model was shown as a prototype at the Paris exhibition in 2000, but did not go on sale until 2003 – as a 2004 model. From 2003 to 2006, 1270 cars were produced. There are currently dozens of cars for sale on European car exchanges - at prices from 1,1 million euros (!) and upwards.
Facts about the Porsche 980
The cars are built with extensive use of carbon fiber with stainless steel covers over the engine compartment. The engine is a mid-mounted 5,7 liter V10, produces 612 hp, has a 6-speed manual gearbox and can do 0-100 in 3,9 seconds with a top speed of 330 km/h. The rear spoiler rises automatically from 120 km/h. Porsche developed the engine for the Le Mans 24-hour race in 2000, and subsequently only modifications have been made to meet the necessary emissions and noise requirements. Porsche has incorporated some gimmicks to commemorate Le Mans, such as placing the ignition switch on the left side of the steering wheel. During When the starting shot goes, the drivers at Le Mans have to run from the starting line to their respective cars and start up. With the start button on the left side, they save one second, or something like that
