Popular car here at Terjes cars

Simca 1100 is not often seen on the road anymore. But it var a regular car from the late sixties to a bit into the eighties. That the car brand is still popular, I notice here on the blog, because the image of the Simca 1100 is one of the most visited models on the web.

Popular in Europe

The model was launched in October 1967 and was the first new model to be equipped with the Chrysler logo and wheel covers. For periods this was the best-selling car model in France, but also a big seller in other countries. When the last car was produced in 1982, total production ended at over 2 million copies.

Engines

The 1100 engines produced 53 HP to 56 HP. Top speed was 140 km/h. In the 1970s, variants with larger and more powerful engines appeared, including "Spesial" and "TI". The latter had 82 HP.

Few cars left in Norway

There are currently 17 (Talbot/Chrysler) cars with plates in Norway (source: regnr.info. It is not good to say why there are not so many cars left. I think it's because Simca and later Talbot fell into disrepute in the late seventies when quality declined under the Chrysler umbrella. It eventually became a car that no one saw any point in preserving.

A nodding dog in the rear window was a common sight when this nice Simca 1100 hit the road.

About the pictures

Notice the great wheel covers with the Chrysler logo and the tires with white sides! The photos of the red car were taken at a Cars & Coffee event at Øvrevoll outside Oslo. The blue-green car with Norwegian plates is a 1972 model, It is pictured at another meeting. Until recently it has only had one owner and has been very well looked after. Both Norwegian Simca's belong to Kim Andersen. So does the nodding dog that accompanies the tours. The French-registered blue-green Simca is pictured at a car rally outside Perpignan. The orange van VF2 is also from Perpignan.
