Last Sunday, the 9 largest car dealers invited everyone with a passion and interest in motoring and mobility to an open house. At some of these dealers we also find special supercars. Here are the highlights.

Lamborghini at Brooklands Motors

One of the highlights was the Norwegian premiere of the new Lamborghini Revuelto. What makes this model special is that it is the first Lamborghini with a hybrid drivetrain. But one should not imagine that this is an environmentally friendly car. The batteries are there to provide an optimal driving experience, 1015 hp, 725 Nm with three electric motors, two that distribute the power to the front wheels and one that controls the power at the rear from the V12 engine. The battery pack is 3,8 kwh, rechargeable, and estimated to give a maximum range of 10 km - but still enough to keep the over 1000 horses alive. When you study the lines of the Revuelto, there is nothing that bears the stamp of anything other than fun and driving pleasure. It looks really mischievous with super short rear overhangs and the exhaust straight out at face height for those driving behind.

In the premises of Lamborghini in Billingstad there were also two classics, a Miura and the Countach itself. Outside was an Urraco – very rare cars these days. When these models were produced, Lamborghini was in a far more turbulent existence than today. Today, the Volkswagen group is behind it with German engineers behind the scenes. The Miura was not a bad car, but it had its weaknesses which have been fixed over the years. The Miura is one of the world's most beautiful cars. The "eyebrows" made the model overly feminine for some, but they could be removed. The Countach is a symbol of a car that is uncompromisingly raw, but very impractical with no view to the rear when backing up, for example. I'm sure that today's Revuelto is equipped with a reversing camera.

Bronco at RøhneSelmer

RøhneSelmer in Billingstad has extensive experience in organizing car meets - including Cars on the plain. We have been there several times together with veteran car owners. As usual, the barbecue was over the area and the families flocked to it. The draw for me was a green Ford Bronco Outer Banks parked at the entrance. inside, a beautiful Mustang mk1 Convertible graced the premises.

Ford Bronco's comeback

One would think that the Bronco model went into the grave after TV broadcasts of OJ Simpson's white Bronco fleeing from the police were shown. Before that, the model was known to flip over the smallest thing. Although all this happened in the USA, I have no faith that the Bronco will be a success in Norway. Today's Bronco is manufactured in Mexico and the 2,7 V6 EcoBoost engine has already gained a bad reputation due to several engine failures with early cars. The trailer weight is only 1250 kg and the price is close to NOK 1,9 million. The positive thing about the Bronco is its American heritage – firstly because of the name, which derives from the American watch horse – secondly that the model for the current Bronco model was designed around the same time as the Mustang mk1 – in the happy sixties.

Defender at Motorpool

Land Rover Defender

The Land Rover Defender is also designed with clear similarities to earlier, legendary models. Land Rover can deliver cars with plug-in hybrid and mild hybrid drivetrains, which makes them quite affordable - if you can use such an expression for cars that cost over a million kroner. It seems many people are waiting for the all-electric Defender to arrive in 2025. Under Bil på sletta, representatives from the Norwegian Jaguar Club presented beautiful cars.

McLaren at Bymedhus

Many had made their way to Bymedhus. They sell exclusive and special cars in a high price range. Outside, among other things, was the large Rolls Royce SUV Cullinan – a car for people with floppy hats. I had more sense for a McLaren Artura standing in the doorway. This is a plug-in hybrid with a 3 hp 6-liter V585 engine and a 95 hp electric motor - which together produce 680 hp and can do 0-100 km/h in 2,9 seconds. They have one for sale for NOK 3,5 million. So one might ask how much it would have cost if it wasn't a rechargeable hybrid?

Ferrari and Maserati at Formula Automobile

Ferrari SF90 Stradale

Formula Automobile often has nice cars parked outside. When I'm nearby, I make sure to walk the dog there. I note several signs that say that Maserati's new SUV Grecale will be available as an electric car (Grecale Folgore) after the summer with a price tag of 1,4 million kroner. It's probably on many people's wish lists. I think Ferrari's hybrid models 296 and SF90 are interesting. If you look in through the rear window, you don't get any marked profile of either the V8 or V12. The engine in the Ferrari 286 is supposed to be a 3-liter twin turbo V6 with a 120-degree angle, which may not be as visual as it seems. The gasoline engine produces 663 hp. Together with the electric motor, the drivetrain produces a whopping 830 hp and a torque of 740. The car's weight is kept low, for a hybrid. The car in the pictures has a curb weight without a driver of only 1532 kg. The battery pack's capacity is 7,45 kWh. Like the Lamborghini Revuelto and McLaren Artura, the hybrid powertrain is designed primarily for performance and driving pleasure. A used Ferrari 296 GTB is advertised for sale at Bymedhus for 4,5 million kroner.

Along the streets of Rome

Today, the Nuova 500 is the old 500.
Today, the Nuova 500 is the old 500.

Join us on a quick trip to Rome and see what you can find along the streets there!

The Fiat 500 is made for cities like Rome. You see them everywhere. Not only the new editions, but also surprisingly many of the old "Nuova 500" - the model that appeared in 1957 and replaced the popular "musa". It is perhaps an exaggeration to say that the Fiat 500 from the period 1957-1975 lives in Best going well. Many are in rather poor condition after having lived for several decades in Rome's relentless traffic and senseless parking culture.

Seen in the light of posterity, it is clear that Fiat 500s built between 1957-1975 have been good cars. The simple is the best - and has the longest shelf life. It is not as easy to produce Polish-built successors such as the Fiat 126 and the horribly ugly one Five hundred. The very latest Fiat 500 is also built in Poland. Will it last as long on the road as its model, the Nuova 500, do you think?

I think a successful design contributes to a car model staying on the streets for a long time, such as the Nuova 500, - and perhaps today's model.

You don't exactly think that the 500 of our time is a big car, but compared to the Nuova 500 it actually looks big, not to mention the Countryman in the background. The pictured Nuova 500 is a manufacturer after 1972.

One of the old 500's big advantages is that they can be parked across. Here a beautiful model from around 1970.

Many of the old 500s are in the same condition as this one, which comes from Agrigento in the south. Previous repairs with steel plastic and frequent dents.

rome-cars-51

The front bears witness to a lot of physical contact at previous parking lots. The problem is that newer cars' bumpers hit over the 500's bumpers.

A Frenchman in Rome. I like the old signs. Very decorative.

A stately post-war Fiat 1100 Camioncino, circa 1950, which has been decorated with extra chrome at the front, restored and placed in a commercial area with flowers on the plane.

I passed a beautiful Bentley rigged for a wedding - and an even more beautiful bride. I chose to focus on the bushes to give the entourage some anonymity.

Not so common to see an original Mini on the street. This is a Mark III from around 1970 in original condition, probably made in Italy.

Note the instrument panel. Traditional instruments have been chosen instead of the mid-positioned instrument setup.

This Ferrari was to be used for one demonstration purpose or another. I'm not sure if I would choose the same blue color on min Ferrari.

Lovely interior.

This black Swiss-registered Ferrari was also to be used for demonstration purposes.
