Volvo, which means "I roll", should actually have been used on ball bearings from SKF. It was SKF that owned Volvo when they started in the 1920s. The cars have always been known as solid and durable - particularly well suited to Nordic conditions. In 1999, Volvo was acquired by Ford, and in 2010 by the Chinese Geely group.
