After the war, Willys Overland tried to cover several needs with the Jeep - in a civilian version as a commercial vehicle, as a small truck and as a passenger car.
Model history
After the war, the demand for cars increased. Willys Overland saw the opportunity to expand Jeep into new areas of use. The Jeepster was an attempt that succeeded quite well. The model was based on the original concept, but without 4-wheel drive. Production spanned 3 model years – 1948, 1949 and 1950. Sales naturally fell quickly as the other car manufacturers restarted production of brand new models. Jeepsters were considered well-equipped cars, but in any case the cars were open with poor protection against the weather and wind.
Jeepster as a hobby car
At the moment there are 5 Jeepsters registered in Norway, one of which is for sale for 250 - a price that seems to be in line with the market. The prices range from NOK 000 to just over NOK 150.
Considering the large production volume for both military and civilian purposes, there should be plenty of parts in circulation. Jeepster built on components from Jeep's powertrain.

About the pictures
The pictures of the Norwegian car were taken at Kjeller airport on the occasion of Wings & Wheels, 2022, a car exhibition of beautiful American cars surrounded by old flying machines. The car is probably a 1949 model. The car with the hood up is photographed at a local car meet in Daytona Beach, Florida (Photo: adifferentbrian). According to the photographer, the car is a 1950 model. You can see that this model was without the vertical chrome feature at the front of the grill.
